Oh, how quickly the world moves. It seems like just yesterday we were all exploring iOS 9 and MacOS Yosemite or El Capitan, but as always, a new keynote speech has brought new wonders into the Apple world. iOS 10 released on September 23rd, just 3 days after MacOS Sierra was give to the world, and as always, wePresent is on top of all the changes made to Apple's AirPlay protocol.
That's why wePresent is proud to announce a firmware upgrade to our wireless presentation devices which will ready them for Apple iOS 10, optimize them for macOS Sierra, and provide a number of device-side optimizations and behind-the-scenes changes meant to improve the wePresent user experience for everyone. The new firmware is available immediately from our website, or by upgrading your wePresent hardware via the web administration console.
The new firmware is available immediately for the WiPG-2000, with a second firmware releasing for the WiPG-1600 in the next few weeks. This update also adds the ability for wePresent units to support the upcoming PresentSense accessory, which allows devices to quickly connect to wePresent hardware in the immediate vicinity. PresentSense is releasing soon (Q4 of 2016) and is aimed at further easing the use of our hardware in environments where several wireless collaboration units are present.
“We understand that a lot has been happening at wePresent lately,” our president and COO, Cory Cannon, said. “Our Europe office has just expanded, we’ve just been accepted to fulfill GSA contracts for the US government, and now we’re releasing our best firmware yet, which makes us one of the first in the market to fully support iOS 10. It’s been a very rapid succession of improvements, and it speaks a lot to the kind of growth we’re experiencing in the education and corporate verticals.”
Here at wePresent, we've been drawing plenty of attention to our hardware after a banner year on the tradeshow circuit with eight Best-In-Show awards. ISE, InfoComm, and ISTE all ended with major recognition being bestowed on our hardware, which were among the first to feature compatibility with Chromebook and Apple AirPlay.
Earlier this year also saw the release of our new peripheral, the SharePod. Capable of streaming almost any content to the wePresent from devices with HDMI outputs, the SharePod effectively brought digital microscopes, document cameras, and Linux laptops into the age of wireless presentation. SharePod not only makes a great solution for "everything else", it's also a quick and secure way to allow guests to present in your classrooms and meeting spaces.
If you'd like to upgrade your WiPG-2000, you can do so from the firmware upgrade page in the downloads section of our website.
